The proposed Sisters wind farm project is located in the South Western
district of Victoria about 10km west of Terang. The project site
consists of 790 ha of farmland in The Sisters locality.
An anemometry mast was erected in February 2008 for the collection of
on-site wind data, which will be assessed to determine the suitability
of the site for a wind farm.
9-12 wind turbines are proposed for The Sisters site.
Comprehensive technical and environmental studies will be conducted
according to the Policy and Planning Guidelines for Development of Wind
Energy Facilities in Victoria, including flora and fauna surveys, noise
studies, shadow flicker investigations and visual amenity reports.
These will form part of a Planning Application to be submitted to Moyne
Shire, who are the responsible authority as the project is under 30MW.
As part of Wind Farm Development’s commitment to community
consultation, a project Open Day will also be held in conjunction with
community mail outs and home visits to provide further information on
the project and wind energy.
